MrWho's RetroFTP Information v1.4k

= Latest Changes =

24th January 2025 - Still sorting everything by Brand.

19th January 2025 - Lots of moving files around to try and consolidate everything on a per-brand structure.

15th January 2025 - Finished compressing the magazines. Some magazines yielded a big difference (more than 50%), most an acceptable difference (between 10% and 50%), and a few almost nothing - I decided to compress ALL of them to the same stardard, to keep a similar quality across the collection. Also added the German C64 magazine "64er". With all that, and with the added magazine to the archive, the total Gb count of disk space taken is about 140Gb - more than 60Gb less of what it was before.

14th January 2025 - Still compressing the magazine PDFs. IMO the slight quality loss is negligible.

11th January 2025 - Added some ftp mirrors.

4th January 2025 - Added some bootable recovery DVDs for some computers, and a bunch of other CDs.

4th September 2024 - Added more magazines scanned by fabwhack@gmail.com at http://retropdfs.wordpress.com. In the future I'm considering compressing them to save space (right now they take more than 200Gb, which is about 1/4th of the total archive size) - If you must have the full-res versions, check http://retropdfs.wordpress.com for the magnet links.

2nd September 2024 - Added lots of magazines scanned by fabwhack@gmail.com at http://retropdfs.wordpress.com

7th February 2024 - Added the Hobbes OS/2 Archive to the Site Archives. Sorted some files around. Will slowly move the files around so they're sorted roughly by "Brand > Product > Model" folder structure of sorts instead of "Product Family > Brand". You might find a sligh discrepancy on the TREE.TXT listing as I move the files around and the listing is updated only once a day.

5th October 2023 - Added some more Bundled CDs and a couple of booting recovery CDs and DVDs for some computers.

26th September 2023 - Added some printer CDs - HP and Brother. And some others. More to come.

16th June 2023 - Added some more drivers. Cleaned up by removing empty directories.

7th March 2023 - Small tidying up

15th February 2023 - Gave up trying to keep the tree structure description here - I think it's pretty self-explanatory. Also added thanks to people who upload.

= Additional Information =

This driver/tool/manuals/BIOS/software repository for old computers is a work-in-progress.
The organization is hit-or-miss, because I'm just dumping here what I find online.
Also nothing's guaranteed to work.

Most of this stuff was taken from anonymous ftp servers that i've been finding online (I assume maintained by other retro computing fans), and lots of the stuff here was also taken from vogons.org user postings, as well as the archive.org 20200627 snapshot of vogonsdrivers.com. There's also a game demo collection compiled by Vogons user RuThaN.

As this is basically a dump of everything I find related to retro computing - with little organization - there most probably are a lot of duplicate items. I chose not to try to eliminate them, because one of the dupes might work and the other not, so I find it better to just keep everything.

Check back regularly to see what's new.

Also check out the TREE.TXT file to easily search through the contents. This file is generated daily.

If anything is not as expected (like a driver in the wrong folder or category), please let me know.

You can email me at mrwho@sapo.pt

I case you want to leech the whole thing (which you are welcome to do), you can check the current size on the TREE.TXT file.

You can send your files to the #Uploads folder.

Big thanks to:
